| WELCOME to the semi-official website of Jan Evan Whitford,
a.k.a. Seawheezer, Whitty McWino, That Gatehouse Guy,
Baby Wonie, and a few other disgusting nomenclatures involving body parts.
Since his next Nikki O'Connor novel is a work in
progress, there have been some major
revisions and the new title will be Mystic
Fear. Jan
promises it'll be out ASAP. Here's what it's
about:
Environmental
cop Nikki O’Connor is living large: she’s
survived a category-5 hurricane, been promoted,
and her new husband has just given her an antique
brooch containing a rare purple pearl that turns
out to be worth at least a million bucks. That's
when the bottom drops out. A psycho Nikki rejected
back in high school skips parole, butchers his
jailhouse bride, and starts stalking
Nikki—setting up web-cams to record her most
intimate moments. And while Nikki is at
work, someone murders her husband and a local
burnout kid who drives his mom’s pink Mary Kay minivan
does a Columbine on his high school. Meanwhile,
Nikki spirals into a
tailspin of overwhelming grief, despair, and
bulimia. It takes three people: her best
girlfriend, a 300-lb. ex-Marine, and a skinny
young waif with magenta hair to pull her out of
it, but once she’s back—the unlikely foursome
goes after the killer, with a vengeance.

In the meantime, those who
haven't read Mystic Island
yet are
vigorously invited to pick up a copy online or
order it from your favorite bookstore. Just a
reminder, Mystic Island is about Nikki O'Connor, an attractive single
mom, who also happens to be an intelligent and resourceful environmental cop. She's competing with a U.S. Presidential candidate in the search for a handwritten letter FDR sent to Hitler back in 1945. During her quest, Nikki encounters lobster rustlers, passionate romance, betrayal, murder, a catastrophic hurricane, self-awareness and plenty of laughs.
Mystic Island propels the reader into a tale of fiction laced with historical overtones in the same spirit as The DaVinci Code. However, it unfolds from the perspective of a strong female lead and is peppered with plenty of humor and romance, much like a Janet Evanovich novel. And you know what? In spite of the author's exceptional testosterone level, Mystic Island even inches toward "chick lit". He swears he's a guy, though. Last time he looked, anyway.
Regardless, you can find out more than you need, or maybe even want to know about Mystic Island and its fledgling author by just clicking on the cute little lighthouse buttons to your left.

| "Whitford cleverly combines mystery, romance, action, and adventure, with an old-fashioned dollup of sex and violence. Mystic Island is filled with characters so real, they leap off the page, a corker of a plot involving long buried secrets, murderous cover-ups, and one helluva hurricane. Put this on your must-read list." |
